Back-to-school supply lists are an essential tool for parents and students, providing a clear outline of the materials needed for a successful academic year.

These lists, often distributed by schools or teachers, help ensure that every student arrives prepared and ready to learn on the first day.

Lists are provided by each school. Specific questions should be directed to the school and/or teacher listed.

DataTRANSPORTATION

Please be reminded that school bus transportation will be running off schedule in most cases for the first few weeks of school. Thank you for your patience as our students, families, school bus drivers, and school staff settle into the new routine.

Please continue to check the transportation schedule each night, as adjustments will be made regularly as we adjust to a new school year. The transportation schedule will be slightly delayed during the first few weeks of the new school year as students, families, and drivers become familiar with new bus routes and routines.

Transportation information is posted on the district website on the right-hand side of the page for general reference.

Please utilize this form if you have an issue with your child's transportation. Issues will be addressed in the order in which they're received. The transportation department and the bus companies are handling many phone calls and updating bus information as quickly as possible. Utilizing the form to streamline information will assist in more efficient and quicker updates.

As a reminder, all students in grades PreK-2 and students receiving special transportation must be met at their bus stop by a responsible person to be released. Pre-K students who are 3 years old cannot ride the school bus until their 4th birthday.

Student with computerFOOD SERVICE

Our school's cafeteria staff are our "School Meals Heroes," working tirelessly to prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals to students every day. Their dedication ensures that students have the fuel they need to focus, learn, and grow throughout the school year.

Our School Meals Heroes are some of the first people to arrive at our schools each day and often interact with every Goldback, every single day! We are so grateful for their dedication and commitment to providing nutritional meals to our scholars each and every day! As a friendly reminder, the district provides breakfast and lunch for every student at no cost to them, offering additional support to our families.

The Food Service Program makes every effort to offer nutritionally sound and balanced meals at a lower price than any school district in the area. Four menus are planned each month to meet the needs and tastes of growing children. (Pre-K, elementary, middle, high school).

HEALTH SERVICES

School Health Services takes a leadership role in assessing health risk factors and promotes resilience to ensure students achieve optimal health and well being.

A team comprised of a health services coordinator, school physician, school nurse teacher, school nurse practitioner, aide, and clerk work collaboratively with parents and the medical and school communities to address the medical, social, and educational needs of district children and youth in grades Pre-K through 12th.

All district schools have a knowledgeable, well-staffed and well-equipped health office which promotes healthy attitudes and behaviors while emphasizing preventive health care.

Information regarding our Health Services Department can be found on the district's website.

All students entering or attending school in New York State, including remote school attendance, are required to be immunized by New York State Public Health Law Section 2164.

Any child missing the required immunizations must provide proof that the immunizations have been received or the child will not be allowed to attend school beginning September 18, 2025.

BELL-TO-BELL DEVICE FREE SCHOOLS

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we're looking forward to fostering a focused learning environment across the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. This fall, in alignment with a new statewide initiative from Governor Hochul, schools throughout New York will be emphasizing dedicated, distraction-free learning time during the school day.

Our district leadership has always deeply valued the professional insights of our administrators and teachers. In fact, their valuable feedback led to the development of our own plan in 2023, designed to minimize personal electronic device use and enhance focus in our classrooms. We're proud that the proactive approach of our district leaders has even garnered attention for our students, teachers, and administrators in local, regional, and national discussions on this important topic.

Thank you for continuing to be such valued partners in your scholar's educational journey. We encourage you to read some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about this topic below. Your support is instrumental in making these positive changes a success.

MEDIA OPT-OUT

At the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, we believe highlighting our schools, programs, students, faculty, and staff through the use of pictures, videos, audio recordings, and stories is essential when fostering a great sense of community that promotes our district in a positive way.

The NECSD maintains the right to use student information as noted in the NECSD Student Records policy in accordance to the Family and Education Right to Policy (FERPA) as well as photos, videos, audio, live recordings, marketing materials, and/or quotes from our students on the district’s websites, social media networks, and in print materials, including stories the district supplies to the media and circumstances in which the media is on school grounds for approved visits or school related functions off school grounds, unless formally notified by a parent or guardian via this form.

The NECSD is offering this form as a notice to opt out of such releases for your student(s). Parents or guardians who would like their children to be featured and do not wish to opt out do NOT need to take any further action at this time.

As the parent or guardian of the student identified below, I understand that if I opt out, my child will be excluded from photos/videos and content posted on the district website, social media accounts, or print materials, including stories supplied by the district to local media. If you choose to opt out, please share this information with your child, so they can avoid being in photos taken in school when possible.

Note: This opt-out policy does not apply to public events, district yearbooks, or videotaping by security cameras in schools, on school grounds, or on school buses.

If you do not want your child to be featured in district media, please complete the form below. You can also use the form below to rescind a previously submitted opt-out request.

This form should be completed each school year if you do not wish for your child to be photographed. A parent/guardian can opt out or opt back in at any time. The school year is considered to be approximately from September 1st - August 31st.

The list of those who opt out and/or have rescinded a previous opt-out will be available to NECSD staff to reference as needed.

To view some of these stories, please visit www.newburghschools.org or @NewburghSchools on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
