Scholars Enjoy Lunch and Legos at Newburgh Free Library
The Newburgh Enlarged City School District will launched their Free Summer Meals program with a collaborative event with Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County, and local community agencies on July 2nd. Throughout the summer, the Free Summer Meals program offers breakfast and lunch at seven locations throughout Newburgh and New Windsor.
At the Newburgh Free Library location, Hudson Valley Seed hosts a table with activities every Tuesday during the length of the program from 11am – 1pm. Additionally, the Newburgh Free Library offers programs throughout the year that sometimes coincide with meal time. Earlier this week the Newburgh Free Library facilitated a lego station during lunch time. Scholars were able to enjoy their lunch and then spend a few minutes experimenting with architecture and engineering with legos. At the library location, children and their families are encouraged to visit the library after their meal to participate in free, fun summer programs, projects and activities for families all summer long. More information about their free programs can be found in their regular newsletter.
The Free Summer Meals progam is facilitated by Mrs. Caitlin Lazarski, director of school nutrition.
