SMS Concert Band takes GOLD!
The SMS 7th and 8th grade Concert Band traveled to Monroe-Woodbury High School for the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival, under the direction of Mr. Felix Robles.
The band received a rating of Gold!
The band performed the following pieces:
Dark Fortress (Composed by R. Grice)
The Crossings (Composed by R. Sheldon)
Blackthorn March (Composed by R. Standridge)
The week before the festival, the concert band worked with a guest conductor, Vic Izzo. Mr. Izzo is currently the former conductor of the SUNY Ulster Community College Symphonic Band, and is also Mr. Robles' former band director as well.
Congratulations to the SMS Concert Band students - we are so proud of your hard work, dedication, and the countless hours of practice that made this achievement possible!
