Just Different Chess Reflection Day | Balmville School

Balmville 4th graders came together to reflect, think, and celebrate their learning through chess. Students practiced math and problem-solving skills while playing this strategic game, learning how to plan ahead and make thoughtful moves to checkmate the king. They proudly wore their Just Different shirts, representing a message of individuality and confidence. The brand is led by Drew Ocasio from Newburgh, who is passionate about uplifting and supporting the community and local youth. We explored how different means being unique and not the same- a style where you can express yourself and feel proud. The message from Just Different says it best: “Be you! Dare to be JUST DIFFERENT!” Students shared what being different means to them while celebrating their growth in chess.
