Hello Goldbacks!
The Newburgh Enlarged City School District will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Additionally, please note that the Board of Education meetings originally scheduled for Tuesday night will now take place on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026 evening at the same time.
We are incredibly proud of our administrators and staff members who are working diligently behind the scenes to ensure our buildings are safe and ready for our return on Wednesday.
In making this decision, in collaboration with our Deputy Superintendent, and our Buildings and Grounds, Transportation, Security, and Communication teams, we prioritized several critical safety factors. These include the passability of neighborhood roads for our school buses and the safety of students who wait at their must stops or must navigate snow-covered sidewalks. We also evaluate the sheer volume of snow removal required and coordinate closely with our five independent transportation partners to ensure all buses can travel safely across the diverse terrain of our city and towns. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority.
To support these efforts, we kindly ask our community members to avoid using school parking lots on Tuesday. Our teams will be working throughout the day to clear as much snow as possible to ensure our campuses are secure, especially as we keep a watchful eye on the forecast for next week.
We are so grateful for your continued patience, cooperation, and Goldback spirit as we work together to keep our schools safe.
Stay warm and safe!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jackie Manning Campbell
Superintendent of Schools
