NECSD Distributes 1,000 Backpacks and School Supplies!
The Newburgh Enlarged City School District distributed nearly 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies.
At this successful event, in addition to the backpacks and school supplies, students could receive free haircuts, vision and dental checks, play chess and other games, have their faces painted, meet their building principals, and watch a muralist paint live!
This event is made possible through the hard work and dedication of our Family and Community Engagement team, members of our Buildings and Grounds and Custodial teams, our Security team, our Registration Department, and dozens of our dedicated volunteers from parent groups and community based organizations.
The 3rd annual School is Cool event, made possible through the support of the My Brother's Keeper FACE Grant, continues to have an impact far beyond what we ever imagined. Thanks to this grant, we are able to provide our Goldbacks and their families with the resources and support they need to be ready for school each year. From essential supplies to community connections, the grant has strengthened our ability to serve students and ensure they start the school year prepared, confident, and excited to learn.
Similar to last year; each of our elementary, middle, and high schools—as well as our PTOs and PTGs—came out to set up tables, greet families, and celebrate with students. Their presence created a welcoming, community-centered atmosphere that reminded us all of the power of coming together to support every child’s success.our incredible FACE team- who worked above and beyond on this year's event! Antony Roncal, William Morgan, Laura Vega, Maria Vega, Kori Rogers- our awaeosme Backpack Ambassador- Kevin Rogers with the Mt. St Mary's baseball team! ( I believe)
A special thank you to our local barbers, who gave up their busiest day—Saturday—to provide free haircuts for our scholars. Their generosity ensures our students head into the school year looking and feeling their best.
