Meadow Hill Travels the Globe with Its 8th Annual Culture Fair
Winston Churchill once said “Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day”. Meadow Hill School did just that last night at their 8th annual Cultural Fair. Meadow Hill school has hosted a Culture Night every April for the past eight (8) years because this has grown to be one of our biggest family and community events celebrating their diverse cultures.
Upon arrival the students traveled through a Global Art Show featuring Meadow Hill Scholars. Students received an adventure card, some chips, salsa, and cheese to eat while circulating around all the displays and activities. The school came together to celebrate and experience a wide range of cultures within its own community. Students worked with their families, creating trifolds that featured informational pictures, country artifacts, native food, and interactive games. The Multi-Cultural Stage featured traditional dances and music from both professional groups and students, Justice Taekwondo, and Henna art, Japanese calligraphy, Thai Calligraphy, Origami, Irish Step dancing, face painting and tattoos. The finale was performed by Los Tecuanes De San Miguel Newburgh. Students and families were able to grab a bite of delicious samples at the international table of food set up in the cafeteria. Students celebrated the diversity of their school community and were able to “travel” the globe without leaving MHS.
Thanks to generous donations from our local stores and restaurants such as: Longhorn, Orange Hill Bistro, Perkins, Billy Joe’s, Restaurant Depot, and Stewarts Shop Corporation, Frito Lay, Price Chopper/Market 32, Adam’s Fairacre Farm, and our very own PTO. Thank you, Mama Sue Noll, for all your running around and getting all these generous donations. Thank you to everyone who attended, to our volunteers, and all who participated to make this event a success, this could not be done without you. We want to acknowledge Master Sergeant Granda and his ROTC students, it was a huge addition to the volunteers.
Special thank you to Krystina Candal who has worked hard for months to put together this amazing event!
