NFA Guitar and Rock History Classes Travel to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts
Thirty-one (31) students from the NFA Main Guitar and Rock History classes went “back to the garden” at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Our students participated in discussions about the music as well as historical and societal changes taking place during the 1960’s leading up to the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Festival.
We toured the interactive museum and created original artwork reflecting our personal messages about peace and awareness as well as viewed footage of legendary performances from the original festival including Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Ritchie Havens, Sly and the Family Stone, Janis Joplin, Crosby Stills and Nash and Jefferson Airplane.
At the end of the presentation, we stood in the peaceful setting upon which the original festival was held and agreed that the land held a special magic. The NFA Music teachers look forward to returning to Bethel Woods with our classes next year!
