Balmville Scholars Use Money Management Skills to Earn Hudson Valley Renegades Education Day
In partnership with Heritage Financial Credit Union, the fifth graders at Balmville were able to partake in the Hudson Valley Renegades Education Day, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Students were treated to educational learning stations and were able to enjoy watching the Hudson Valley Renegades in a 9-3 win over the Jersey Shore Blue Claws. The Renegades are a High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. These excited scholars were equally thrilled to be part of history-at-the-park by being the largest crowd they have ever had in 30 years, with 5,619 spectators in attendance!
In collaboration with the PTA, the fifth graders spent months fundraising to be able to afford to attend this Education Day. The fundraising was led by the students, where they learned how to manage money daily, estimate and calculate additional funds still needed and those made, communication skills with those contributing to the fundraiser, and appreciation for getting themselves to a school field trip.
On June 4th & 6th, representatives from both the bank and the stadium will visit Balmville to present the importance of teamwork and the importance of saving money. The grade level is grateful for this wonderful experience and looks forward to continuing their partnership with both Hudson Heritage Financial Credit Union and the Hudson Valley Renegades.
