NECSD NYGear Up After School Program is Here!
NECSD NYGEAR UP AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMNY Gear Up will be offering an after school experience beginning in March 2024 for ALL 8th grade students regardless of race, gender, or economic status. All 8th grade scholars are encouraged to apply and actively participate. The program will be held at Heritage Middle School, Meadow Hill School, South Middle School and Temple Hill Academy. NYGear Up After School will provide your students opportunities for tutoring and homework assistance, Regents Prep, academic/mental health counseling and support, and mentoring. The program offers scholars the opportunity to work with and talk to teachers and peers in a small group setting. The program focuses on the academic improvement, social and emotional learning, and the health and well-being of our 8th grade scholars. The after school program will afford your child an opportunity to improve their academic standing all while earning other opportunities that NYGear Up will offer in the future. NY Gear Up After School will be held for 1 hour every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There also may be opportunities for programs on Saturdays. Transportation will be available for scholars participating in the NYGear Up Program. Start dates for the program are still tentative though the anticipated date is Tuesday, March 5th. If this date changes, information will be provided as soon as possible. In-person programs will begin immediately after regular dismissal time and an after-school snack will be available. The application for the NYGear Up After-School Program includes demographic information, information regarding policies and procedures, including selection policy, attendance policy, transportation information, behavior and discipline policies; and anticipated program offerings at each middle school. There also may be field trips and guest speakers offered through the program. Please answer all of the applicable questions so we can work to provide a successful program for our scholars.
