Dear NECSD students, families, faculty, and staff,

I am writing to you with critical updates for this week. We continue to believe that the best place for our children is in our schools. Collectively, we are committed to in-person learning so that we can remain focused on the educational, social, emotional, and physical well-being of our students. 

With multiple factors in mind, all NECSD schools, with the exception of Meadow Hill School, South Middle School, Vails Gate STEAM Academy, GAMS, and Heritage Middle School, will return to in-person learning tomorrow, Monday, January 3, 2022. 

Students who attend Meadow Hill School, South Middle School, Vails Gate STEAM Academy, GAMS, and Heritage Middle School, will engage in virtual learning tomorrow, Monday, January 3rd and should sign onto their Google Classroom when their school day normally begins for virtual, synchronous (live) instruction. Faculty and staff who work at Meadow Hill School, South Middle School, Vails Gate STEAM Academy, GAMS, and Heritage Middle School, should report to their school building at their regularly scheduled time. All Pre-K students who attend GAMS will be in person. Any student from Meadow Hill School, South Middle School, Vails Gate STEAM Academy, GAMS, and Heritage Middle School, who may need to pick up their Chromebook and/or vital supplies for online learning should contact their school building directly. Any student from GAMS or Heritage Middle School who may need to pick up their Chromebook and/or vital supplies for online learning should contact their school building directly. 

Further changes are possible. In the event that additional schools need to transition to virtual learning, updates will be shared with families, faculty, and staff of those buildings immediately. Please continue to check your email and the district website for further updates. Robo calls will be sent to alert you to new messages. 

The district continues to work with local partners to offer a vaccine distribution to people 5 years of age and older. We anticipate another distribution in mid-to-late January. More information will be shared with our NECSD community at that time. Information about vaccination distributions in Orange County can be found here. Please continue to wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear a mask when you are in close proximity to others. Together, we can overcome this public health pandemic.
