Fostertown Families: Welcome Back Letter

Dear Fostertown Families, 

As principals of Fostertown ETC Magnet School, it is our pleasure to welcome everyone back to the 2020-2021 school year. It is an honor and privilege to serve our school community. While COVID-19 has changed how we start our school year, we are all excited to connect with our students.

At Fostertown we have an amazing team of professionals who have spent time planning and preparing for our virtual September. We look forward to transitioning through the phases of welcoming back students as soon as it is determined safe for all. We have made an effort to answer the most pressing questions you have as a parent/guardian at this time. 

Question: When does school start? 
Answer: The first day of school for all scholars will be Tuesday, September 8, 2020. 

Question: How do I know what teacher my scholar has? 
Answer: For the month of September all students will participate in online classes starting at 9:00 AM and ending at 3:15PM. Teachers will invite the students to their Google Classrooms. Please log into Launchpad to access it. 

Question: What if I don’t have a Parent Portal? 
Answer: Please sign up for your Parent Portal, if you have not already done so. You will need to as this is how students will receive their schedules for this coming school year. You can contact the Main Office at 845-568-6425 or email one of the secretaries at jtorres@necsd.net or svanamburgh@necsd.net. 

Question: How will my scholar know which Google classrooms to attend? 
Answer: The teachers will invite the students to their Google Classroom and codes will be posted on the Fostertown website as well. 

Question: How does my scholar access information and learning? 
Answer: Just go to the district website, click on FAMILIES and the select ClassLink Launchpad. All students in grade 3-5 should have a Chromebook from the district. You can also use a home computer for grades K-2. K-2 chromebooks have arrived please check the district webpage for more information. 

Question: How will my scholar learn the technology needed to be successful online? 
Answer: Teachers will assist the students in “how-to” the first week using email & Google classroom. 

Question: How do I know what supplies my child needs? 
Answer: Teachers will notify students of any virtual supplies & face-to-face supplies they may need during the first week of school and lists are posted on our school website.

The Fostertown website and the FOS social media pages are the best way to communicate with families & provide updated information, please follow these accounts Fostertown ETC Magnet School on Facebook, @fostertownschoolnecsd on Instagram,  @FostertownETCSchool Youtube Channel, and our amazing PTC Fostertown Facebook page.  Any and all updates will be posted in a timely manner to these accounts.  Our new school email is Fostertown@necsd.net you can email general questions or communication to this email address.

Aquí en Fostertown tenemos un equipo profesional maravilloso quienes han pasado el tiempo planeando y preparando para nuestro septiembre virtual. Esperamos con anticipación el poder hacer la transición a través de las fases y darles la bienvenida a nuestros estudiantes tan pronto sea determinado seguro para todos. Hemos hecho un esfuerzo para contestar las preguntas que los padres/guardianes tienen en estos momentos. 

Pregunta: ¿Cuándo es el primer día de clases? 

Respuesta: El primer día de clases para todo los estudiantes es el martes, 8 de septiembre, 2020. 

Pregunta: ¿Cómo sé cuál es el maestro o la maestra de mi hijo(a)? 

Answer: Para el mes de septiembre todos los estudiantes participaran en clases virtuales empezando a las 9:00AM y terminando a las 3:15PM. Los maestros invitarán a los estudiantes a sus clases en Google Classroom. Por favor entre a Launchpad para obtener acceso. 

Pregunta: ¿Qué pasa si no tengo Parent Portal? 

Respuesta: Por favor regístrese para su Parent Portal, si todavía no lo ha hecho. Necesitará esto ya que así es que su hijo(a) recibirá su información para este año escolar. Puede llamar a la oficina al 845-568-6425 o enviar un email a una de las secretarias a jtorres@necsd.net o svanamburgh@necsd.net. 

Pregunta: ¿Cómo mi hijo(a) sabrá a cual Google classroom debe asistir? 

Respuesta: Los maestros invitarán a los estudiantes a su Google Classroom y los códigos estarán disponibles en el website de Fostertown también. 

Pregunta: ¿Cómo mi hijo(a) obtiene acceso a información y aprendizaje? 

Respuesta: Cuando entra al website del distrito, vaya a FAMILIES y seleccione ClassLink Launchpad. Todos los estudiantes en grados 3-5 deben tener un Chromebook del distrito. También puede usar una computadora  de la casa para los grados K-2. Para los chromebooks para grados K-2, verifique la página web del distrito para más información, ya que han llegado.  

Pregunta: ¿Cómo mi hijo(a) aprenderá la tecnología necesaria para ser exitoso virtualmente? 

Respuesta: Los maestros ayudarán a los estudiantes en como la primera semana usando el email & Google Classroom.  

Question:  ¿Cómo sabré qué materiales mi hijo(a) necesitará? 

Answer: Los maestros le notificarán a los estudiantes de los materiales virtuales y los materiales en persona que necesitaran durante la primera semana de clase y las listas están disponibles en el website del distrito.
