South Middle School is Building Resilient Optimistic Scholars

On Sunday, February 23, 2020, scholars from the South Middle School B.R.O.S. (Building Resilient Optimistic Scholars) program traveled to Marist College in Poughkeepsie. The B.R.O.S. program, facilitated through the Empire State After School Program, includes an emphasis on social-emotional learning, transferable skills through recreation, community service, and college/career exposure. Last week, program sessions focused on college, including the following topics: college admissions, two year vs. four year colleges, public vs. private colleges, Division I - III Athletics, and the NCAA Clearinghouse. To conclude the week, B.R.O.S. scholars attended the Marist Men's Basketball game against Niagara University with teacher-mentors, Mr. Kareem Donaldson and Mr. Alex Sokolinski.
