A letter from Principal Brunger

January 27, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you know, our students’ safety is our first priority.  Students must feel safe in order to take full advantage of their academic environment.  As we start the new semester and third marking period we are putting a safety measure in place.

Effective immediately, we will not be allowing students to bring in open containers of liquids such as water bottles, juice, etc.  Students may bring beverages to school but the containers must be sealed and new.  Students may bring in a recyclable container to fill at our water stations but it must be empty upon entering the school.  Any open, filled containers will be taken from students by security during the AM security check.

Students may bring a bag lunch from home with snacks and lunch or they may have the school lunch.  Breakfast, salad bar and snacks are available daily as well.  Please do not drop off fast food items to the building for a students’ lunch. My School Bucks are available through the district to put monies on your child’s food account.  It is available via an App on your cell phone.

We want to be proactive in making our parents and guardians aware of the growing vaping epidemic in this country with tobacco via the E-cigarette.  Below are links to two different articles that provide valuable information to keep you up-to-date as a parent.  Be mindful that many of the E-cigarettes are “disguised” to look like a flash drive.

If you are dropping off or picking up your child during arrival or dismissal time, please be aware of the traffic rules at Heritage.  Students are to be dropped off or picked up by the coned in area at the front of the building.  Please look carefully prior to pulling out of your space and DO NOT MAKE A U-TURN.  These practices create a safety issue for pedestrians and others driving in and out of the parking lot.

Thank you for assisting us keep our students safe on school grounds.  If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach out to the grade level administrator or your child’s school counselor.  School counselors can set up appointments with teachers and have a lot of expertise when it comes to navigating these middle school years.

Respectfully,

Lynnette Brunger
