Newburgh Free Academy, Main Campus Hosts First Blood Drive of the Year
Newburgh Free Academy, Main Campus hosted their first blood drive of the year. High school seniors Marissa Sheehan and Brandon Rein served as captains and expected to see receive more donors than previous years. Dozens of students, teachers, and community members sat in chairs waiting their turn to donate. “I wanted to save three lives. I do it every year.” Matthew Barnett, 12th grade
“People are feeling happy and healthy. One donation saves three lives,” said Brandon Rein.
Ms. Michele McKnight and Mr. Rich Anderson have been advisers for the Blood Drive for the past 9 years. The foundation for the Blood Drive began with Ms. Melissa Siegel, current teacher at Newburgh Free Academy’s West Campus. The Blood Drive acts as a way for students to collaborate as a team to organize the event and give back to the community in a very important and meaningful way.
