Welcome to ESYP

The District is excited to announce that we are providing our community with an extensive in-person Extended School Year Program. Our schools, families, and community have continued to  “Shoulder Up” and are now putting forth unique summer opportunities for our scholars.

In addition to essential academic skills in reading, writing, and math, ESYP will be offering programs in the arts and music, LEGOS, robotics, swimming, physical education, project-based learning, exposure to our vast Career and Technical Education programs, mindfulness techniques to support social-emotional learning and more!

And, if that is not enough, the District will be hosting Leave and Learn experiences on Fridays for all NECSD scholars.  More information to come about the exciting opportunities to enhance our scholars' summer!

Our Extended School Year Program lineup is engaging, interactive, and jam packed with fun and enrichment. It will be a boost for the brain, body and soul!

The Meals Distribution Program will continue through the summer months. Free meals will be provided for all scholars at select locations throughout our District, Monday through Friday in order to provide continued support to our scholars and their families.

The NECSD community strives to support our scholars with the skills and tools they need to become successful leaders beyond Academy Field …year-round. ESY Programs will begin on Tuesday, July 6th with most programs running for 6 weeks. Online registration begins on June 1st, 2021. Please complete the Google Form to sign your scholar up for ESYP! Sign up will Close on June 11th for Elementary students. Secondary registration will close on June 23rd.

Exceptional Learners Academy

 A mandatory program for scholars with IEPs who require extended year services.

Eligible ELL scholars in K-5 will receive second language support services.

To support instructional time loss due to pandemic; provide K-5 scholars with remediation in ELA and math.

21st Century

Children will work with Lego Education’s WeDo 2.0 Curriculum to build robots, learn to code them, and explore ways to solve real life problems using their creations. Children will also have the opportunity to create different designs online and bring them to life with giant sized LEGOS. These STEM-based projects are embedded with English language arts and math exercises aligned to the science and technology state learning standards.

High School - Level Transition (8th to 9th)

Four-day orientation to assist with the transition from middle school to high school.

Bridges Transition Program
(8th to 9th)

This summer program addresses the two critical dimensions of success:
1. on-track interdisciplinary readiness;
2. confidence-building social, emotional, and academic support for selected scholars.
 
3.  Students will be enrolled in a half-credit  accrual health course to help accelerate their course of study for high school
4.  Students will be provided AP Power Prep to prepare them for high school AP courses that lead to college credit

P-Tech Summer Program

Two courses taught by SUNY Orange professors to students entering their 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of P-TECH. Both classes are required in the college degree for Networking and Cyber Security. Summer Bridge, IBM Analytics/Math Accuplacer, IBM Internships, and OCCC Classes are also provided.
