THREE-HOUR (3) DELAY | Tuesday, February 24th, 2026
The Newburgh Enlarged City School District will open on a three-hour (3) delay on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026. This delay will allow for additional time and increased visibility during peak travel times.
School buses should arrive for pick up three (3) hours later than they normally would. Dismissal times will remain the same.
Additionally, please note that the Board of Education meetings originally scheduled for Tuesday night will now take place on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026. The BOE Personnel Committee will be at the same time, 4:15pm. The Regular Board of Education meeting will take place at 7:15pm.
The Superintendent's Community Conversation scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled to March 13th from 6pm - 6:45pm.
We are incredibly proud of our administrators and staff members who are working diligently behind the scenes to ensure our buildings are safe and ready for our return to school.
In making this decision, in collaboration with our Deputy Superintendent, and our Buildings and Grounds, Transportation, Security, and Communication teams, we prioritized several critical safety factors. These include the passability of neighborhood roads for our school buses and the safety of students who wait at their must stops or must navigate snow-covered sidewalks. We also evaluate the sheer volume of snow removal required and coordinate closely with our five independent transportation partners to ensure all buses can travel safely across the diverse terrain of our city and towns. Additionally, we consider faculty and staff, who travel from locations outside of our district. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority.
We are so grateful for your continued patience, cooperation, and Goldback spirit as we work together to keep our schools safe, particularly during this snowy winter.
Stay warm and safe!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jackie Manning Campbell
Superintendent of Schools
