South Middle School AAA Safety Patrol Initiative
We are proud to announce that South Middle School has implemented a School Safety Patrol program for our 6th-grade students, inspired by the nationally recognized AAA School Safety Patrol initiative. With over 675,000 student patrollers participating in more than 35,000 schools across the globe, this program is one of the largest school-based safety efforts, promoting citizenship, leadership, and responsibility among students.
At SMS, selected 6th-grade students have stepped up to serve as school safety patrollers. These students have shown strong leadership skills, resilience, and a commitment to advocating for others. In their roles, patrollers help with hallway expectations, assist with transitions between classes, and support during dismissal.
Patrollers are trained and receive guidance and support from Sheriff Clybur. This will help equip our students with the skills they need to thrive as role models and safety advocates within our school community.
We look forward to the positive impact these young leaders will have on SMS.
