Hold in Place - Medical Emergency

March 14, 2022

Dear Newburgh Free Academy North Campus students and families,

On Monday, March 14, 2022, a ‘Hold in Place’ was put in place at dismissal for approximately five minutes. The protocol was enacted in order to respond to a medical emergency in the building as efficiently as possible. Faculty, staff, and students practice various drills throughout the year in order to understand the protocols and respond quickly in the event of an actual emergency.

Your child may have questions or wish to express their emotions about scenarios that require this response. Try to be sensitive to their desire to communicate, while listening to and accepting their feelings. Please contact one of the Social Emotional Learning educators in your building if you need assistance with conversations about their feelings and/or emotions.

Ask your children to review the response(s) they have been taught during drills and how they responded today to help them better learn and remember how to respond to emergency situations. You may also want to review safety procedures in your home at this time.

It is through the work of all that we are able to support our scholars. More information regarding safety in our schools can be found in the District Safety Plan on the district website.

Sincerely,

Mr. Matteo Doddo, Co-principal

Newburgh Free Academy North Campus
