NFA West Awards Students and Teachers for Improvement, Character, and Engagement

During the month of February, Newburgh Free Academy West Campus held an award ceremony each week. On Fridays, three awards were given out. For the student award, teachers nominated students who demonstrated notable growth or character. Next, students nominated a teacher who they felt went above and beyond in their teaching and connection to the students of West for that week. Finally, a parent engagement award was given to the teacher who demonstrated exception outreach and parent engagement for the week. 

Week 1 - Congrats to Mr. Brian Carroll for winning the Educator of the Week award, Senior Ronald Edwards for winning the Scholar of the Week award and Mrs. Jillian Paige-Lyons for winning the Family Engagement Award!! Thank you to Amanda Greene, Director of Social Studies and families for supporting our event!  

Week 2 - Congrats to Mr. Wilson Ortiz for winning the Educator of the Week award, Junior Jade Brown for winning the Scholar of the Week award and Mrs. Nina Jalbert for winning the Family Engagement Award!! Thank you to Mr. Andy Velez, Director of Operations and Maintenance and families for supporting our event! 

Week 3 - Mrs. Noelle Brand for winning the Educator of the Week award, Sophomore Jazzlynn Pidgeon for winning the Scholar of the Week award and Mrs. Kylene D’Alfonso for winning the Family Engagement Award!! Thank you to Mr. Nick Angelo and families for supporting our event!  

Week 4 - Congrats to Mrs. Sabrina Tompkins for winning the Educator of the Week award, Junior, Carl Jones for winning the Scholar of the Week award and Mrs. Jessica Zwart for winning the Family Engagement Award!! Thank you to Mr. Alfred Romano, Director of Science and families for supporting our event!
