Newburgh Free Academy Youth in Government Club hosted 14 Orange County schools and more than 300 students for a Youth in Government convention. This convention mimics the political party conventions that nominate politicians for the general election.

Hosted in the NFA Planetarium, the NFA Astronomy Club will be presenting their traditional show, The Season of Light, about the traditions around the Winter Solstice including holidays.

The Fostertown community proudly gathered to celebrate the opening and dedication of the Ramos “Rainbows” Reading Room, a newly renamed library space honoring the lasting legacy of former principal, Mrs. Maritza Vargas-Ramos.

High School Selection Tours are an opportunity to meet faculty and staff, learning about programs offered in the building and expectations for high school, and tour the building.

Over the past few weeks, students have been exploring all things apparel—what clothes are made of, how they’re designed, how they’re made, how we care for them, and so much more.

Inspired by what they learned, they created their own storybook-themed floats and character balloons, combining artistry, engineering, and literacy.

Our Newburgh Free Academy high school students teamed up with community members this week to distribute a Thanksgiving giveaway filled with seasonal foods and fresh vegetables.

Coordinated by Ms. Kori Rogers, our McKinney-Vento liaison and the Family and Community Engagement team, bags were distributed to schools to be shared with designated students in need.

The NFA Book Club will be reading Banned Together by Ashley Hope Pérez as their December selection. The meeting to discuss the book is scheduled for December 18th.

Over 200 runners and walkers toed the line for the 9th Annual Heritage 5K Turkey Trot, decked out in their 5K long sleeved Turkey Trot t-shirts and seasonal gear.

Throughout their fundraising campaign, students practiced real philanthropic skills such as goal-setting, communication and presentation, teamwork, leadership, and understanding the impact of contributing to a shared cause.
