Regional Scholarships

Regional scholarships are those scholarships that are available to numerous different school districts throughout either the Hudson Valley. Deadlines and application process varies for each different scholarship.

80A The Orange County Youth Football and Cheerleading Scholarship

The Orange County Youth Football and Cheerleading Scholarship for $500 will be awarded to four graduating seniors in Orange County.  The Scholarship is open to graduating seniors of any school district in Orange County (with the exception of Monroe Woodbury) including John S. Burke High School and Chapel Field Christian, as well as students from Monticello, Wallkill, and Marlboro who plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college upon graduation. 81A The Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship

The Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship for $2,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County.  The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Packet.  Interested candidates for the Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship must submit their artwork, essay and application electronically to http://www.situationcares.org.  Candidates must submit three (3) examples of their art, which may be in the form of design, music and/or performing arts. • Candidates must write an essay of no greater than three (3) pages, explaining how they have demonstrated a desire for success in both their personal and academic lives. Submissions sent directly to the Community Foundation office will not be considered.

82A Al Romm Interdisciplinary Journalism Scholarship

The Al Romm Interdisciplinary Journalism Scholarship for $1,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County.  The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Scholarship Packet.  Candidate must be a graduating senior from any high school in Orange County • Speak one other language, besides English, fluently • Achieve a “B” or better average in higher level math classes • Have been involved with the high school newspaper or yearbook, or have a published journalistic byline/article in a printed publication • Graduate high school with a 3.5 Grade Point Average • Enroll at an accredited university that offers a journalism degree • Pursue a career in journalism • Make every attempt to attend the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan’s Annual Scholarship Reception in June to meet a member of the Romm family, in whose name this scholarship was established Preference may be given (but not required) to students enrolling at University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst, or Columbia University, Mr. Romm’s alma mater. (Use this link to apply for this scholarship: https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cfosny)

83A E.J. Szulwach Environmental Scholarship

E.J. Szulwach Environmental Scholarship for $1,500.00 is available to two graduating seniors in Orange County. 84A The Charlie Reichle Memorial Scholarship

The Charlie Reichle Memorial Scholarship for $1,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County or Liberty Central School District.  Students must be a graduating senior of any school in Orange County or Liberty Central School District. • Plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college or university • Have a GPA of “B” or higher • Submit a 250 word essay with the application encompassing why you feel you are deserving of this scholarship.   (Use this link to apply for this scholarship:  https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cfosny)

85A Ed Vandercliff Scholarship for the Bill Perry Memorial Fund for Music Scholarship 

 Ed Vandercliff Scholarship for the Bill Perry Memorial Fund for Music Scholarship for $1,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County .  This scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Orange County High Schools with preference given to graduates of Chester Academy High School and Warwick Valley High School who plan to pursue music education. Scholarship recipients must attend (or send a representative) to the Bill Perry Day Blues Festival, held annually the last Sunday of July in Sugar Loaf, NY.
