Make a Game Plan
Do your research before arriving at the fair by reviewing the list of attending schools and highlight the institutions you are most interested in learning more about. If you are attending the fair with family members, decide if you’ll stick together or divide and conquer. Make sure to bring a tote bag or backpack to hold the materials you’ll collect from representatives as well as something to take notes with.

Ask the Right Questions
A helpful rule of thumb: if you can Google the answer, don't waste your time asking it. Ask things that are specific to your needs and interests, and prioritize questions of importance. Some examples might be what a typical day on campus looks like for a freshman, what kind of career support is offered outside of the classroom, or what financial aid programs they offer. The goal is to uncover if this college or university is the right fit for you.

Keep Your Options Open
After you've visited the schools on your list, don't be afraid to approach ones that you are unfamiliar with. This is your opportunity to learn about all the schools you can and the college reps will be thrilled to talk to you. You may just stumble onto a great institution you hadn't considered.

What to Do Next
Get contact information and use it! After you leave each college booth, jot down some notes about each conversation. If not, at the end of the event, they may all blur together. At home, organize your information and while the conversations are fresh, send reps of the institutions that  interested you the most a thank you email and ask any follow-up questions you may have.
