NFA P-TECH Students Honor Heritage with Vibrant Hispanic Heritage Month Potluck Celebration
NFA P-TECH students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a lively, community-focused potluck celebration last Friday, bringing together students, staff, and local leaders for an afternoon of food, music, and cultural exchange.
The heart of the event was a spectacular potluck, where students demonstrated their culinary skills and pride by preparing and sharing a wide array of traditional Hispanic foods. The gathering highlighted the rich diversity and deep cultural roots present within the school community.
The festivities included spirited live music performances by talented student musicians. This celebratory atmosphere provided a meaningful opportunity for P-TECH students, teachers, and administrators to connect outside the classroom and appreciate the contributions of Hispanic cultures.
We were honored to welcome City Council member Giselle Martinez, who joined the celebration to share the afternoon with our students, teachers, and administrators. Her attendance underscored the importance of cultural recognition and community engagement in our district.
The potluck served as a powerful reminder of the strength and vibrancy of our student body. The activity was led by P-TECH teacher and Newburgh Mayor Torrance Harvey and teacher Christine Baumann. We thank Mr. Williams, NFA P-TECH House Principal, Mr. Doddo, Newburgh Free Academy co-principal and everyone who contributed to making this year’s P-TECH Hispanic Heritage Month celebration a truly memorable success.
