Attendance Data for Dec. 3rd: 6th grade attendance was at 93.36%. 7th grade attendance was at 92.60%. 8th grade attendance was at 91.40%. Overall attendance for Heritage Middle School was at 92.50%.
District policy - Students need to have 93% attendance to participate in extracurricular activities (sports, field trips, etc...)

Please purchase the HMS Yearbook and take advantage of the early bird discount of $20.00. You can send in cash or check (made out to NECSD) by December 19th. You can get a yearbook order form in your 1st period class. You can also order the yearbook online. Please support HMS!!
Girls to Ladies!
Girls to Ladies program are looking for students to donate new or gently used coats to keep the community warm. The items can be dropped off in the blue boxes near the front entrance! If you have any questions, please see Ms. Martini.
Families for Families Program!
Staff and students - We will be collecting toys, unwrapped gifts, hats, gloves and scarves for our local Families to Families program. The program adopts over 100 of our district families in need. There will be a drop off box in the main lobby. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Altmann.
St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital NICU Unit!!
Please donate diapers, wipes, personal care items, blankets, onesies, and baby books for the St. Luke's Cornwall NICU Unit. Donations can be given to Ms. Coopersmith. Students who donated will be invited to an after-school baby shower on Wednesday, Dec. 19th. There will be games, prizes and an ice cream station. The last day to bring in donations is Tuesday, December 18th. This event is hosted by the HMS Student Government.
There are still openings in the Empire State Program. Students will receive additional assistance in the core subjects and an opportunity to learn ESL and Music. Also, you can learn to play violin through the Empire Program! The program will run Tuesdays through Thursdays immediately after school.
Year Book Club!!

HMS Student Government!!
Members of the Student Government are involved in various events at HMS. The students will do community service projects, plan Spirit Weeks, help plan the Valentine's Day dance, etc.. If you would like more information, please contact Ms. Coopersmith. You can stop by her classroom, Room 401.
Guitar Club will be on Thursdays after-school. New members are always welcome. You can join the club, even if you have never played or don't own a guitar (there are extra guitars available). See Mr. Evans in room 312 for more information.
Mr. Porpora is collecting donations for H.O.P.E. You can donate fresh, warm clothes and canned goods. Drop them off to room 315.
After-school Sports Events!
Middle school students must be accompanied by a parent to any after school sport events at NFA.
Fridays - Wear your Goldback or Heritage apparel!!
Late buses have started on Monday, September 24th and they are available for students from Mon - Thurs weekly. The students must be staying with a teacher to stay after school.

6th Grade Open House will take place on Monday, December 17th from 5:00 - 7:30 pm.
Upcoming Discount Card Fundraiser!!!
The fundraiser will run from November 19th - December 17th!! Last day to purchase discount cards is Monday, December 17th!
The Salvation Army: There is the L.I.F.E. After-School program for the students. They offer many services, for example, homework assistance, arts and crafts, health and wellness activities, etc. If you would like more information, you can contact Ava Benjamin, After School Director, at 845-562-0413.
The Liberty Partnership Program: The LPP after-school program is available for students. It is located on 1 Washington Ctr. There is a bus that will take them to the program after school. The program offers academic advising, tutoring, cultural enrichment, leadership development, and career exploration. There are also summer programs available.
