The NECSD Online Student Resource Center webpage is now open. It includes resources for students of various ages and links to some of our online services that we subscribe to in the district. Also includes Khan Academy videos that are useful for a variety of Science and Math Topics.

LAB-R TESTING INFORMATION
Lab-R Testing is testing of new students who are not native English speakers to see whether they qualify for ESL or bilingual classes. The Lab-R Testing Site is located at the Welcome Center on Washington Street. The Lab-R Testing Site hours can be found on the Bilingual/ESL Department webpage.

Oct. 19th is a half day for students and there is no PM Pre-K. Heritage, South, Meadow & Temple Hill (6-8) and HOH dismissing at 10:15AM. On September 21, 2011, students from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District celebrated International Peace Day by uniting with others to spread the message of peace across the world.

NECSD’S ANNUAL 5TH GRADE MATH TOURNAMENT UNDERWAY
Beginning on Wed., Sept. 21, 2011, Newburgh Enlarged City School District 5th grade students completed the first phase of the annual 5th Grade Math Meet in the Board of Education auditorium. The second and third meets will be held on Weds., October 26 and Weds., November 16.

NFA UPDATES - MERCY COLLEGE, EARLY DISMISSAL, COLLEGE WORKSHOP
Students interested in earning college credit through Mercy College must sign up with their school counselor by Wed., Oct. 12. In addition, on Wed. Oct. 12, NFA will be dismissing student who are NOT taking the PSATs at 11AM. Also on Oct. 12th at 7PM NFA will be holding a "Making the Most of High School" Workshop.

NECSD HOLDS ANNUAL SUMMER CONSTRUCTION BUS TOUR
District officials, along with members of various NECSD committees, came together on Thurs., September 1, 2011 for the Annual Summer Constriction Bus Tour. The tour, led by Terry Damon of Armlin, Damon & McMordie, the company hired to manage the improvement plan, visited schools within the NECSD that received renovations.

ESYP’S BALMVILLE COMPONENT
The Extended School Year Program’s Balmville Media and Communications Center component recently concluded after a six-week period. Students focused on reading, math, and socialization skills in addition to other special areas of study.

“SCHOOL IS COOL 2012” PROVIDES SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO OVER 1,000 NECSD STUDENTS
Recently, the District, in conjunction with community partners, held the annual School Is Cool 2012 backpack and school supplies distribution event. In an effort to assist students within the NECSD as they headed back to school this year, the program provided families with backpacks and school supplies.

The District's recently upgraded our libary catalog software to Follett's Destiny Quest. Destiny Quest engages students in a visually appealing and highly graphic online searching experience, leveraging Destiny’s proven K-12 research strategies to help them easily locate and identify appropriate resources.

TURN THE TOWN TEAL
Campaign Designed to Raise Awareness about Ovarian Cancer. NECSD Physical Education Teacher, Girls’ Soccer Coach and Assistant Lacrosse Coach Elissa Kenney, along with the help of her NECSD colleagues, is partnering with a nation-wide campaign, “Turn the Towns Teal”, to promote ovarian cancer awareness.
