Balmville 4th Graders Share Their Voices, Finding Strength in Words
Balmville's 4th graders recently gathered for their Second Annual Poetry Day. This year, the entire fourth grade participated in a celebration of poetry and performance. Students began by reading three poems together before taking turns reciting individual selections, including original works and poems by their favorite authors.
Students proudly wore shirts provided by Drew Ocasio, owner of Just Different, whose continued support of students helps encourage confidence and self-expression. The shirts added a shared sense of pride as students stepped into Poetry Day. In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the event also served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of expression, reflection, and emotional well-being through creative outlets like poetry. Events like Poetry Day give students a lasting opportunity to share their voices, celebrate creativity, and grow in confidence.
