Senator Skoufis Awards Balmville Security Officer Almodovar with Highest Honor
On Thursday, September 22nd, Senator James Skoufis awarded Balmville Security Monitor, Hector Almodovar with the New York state “Liberty Medal” for his heroics last April when he performed the Heimlich maneuver on then fifth grader, Ariana Miranda, who was choking on a piece of orange. His quick thinking and action saved her life.
“It’s an honor to accept this award. It was all Ariana. I’m just happy she’s okay and she’s safe. Thank God,” said Almodovar. The Liberty Medal is the highest honor given by the state Senate.
