Healthy Me!
February is when we learn about being healthy here at the Pre-K Center. We are learning about what is inside our body and eating healthy foods. We are also learning about exercise and healthy hearts. The children in Ms. Debra Mahusky's Pre-K classes used a T-shirt to see where their heart, lungs, esophagus, stomach, and intestines are located. They also learned how their hearts pump blood through their body. The heart beats slowly when they are resting and the heart speeds up and beats faster when they exercise. Using a stethoscope, the children listened to their heart while they were resting. Then the children jumped up and down twenty times and listened to how their heartbeat changed. Finally, the whole school participated in a Healthy Heart Exercise Program, where each class shared an exercise song that they do in their classroom.
