To all PRISM students or students interested in attending/or joining, come join us for a safe, fun, gay-straight alliance meeting being held on Tuesday, March 31st in room 216 at the North Campus. Our meeting will be held for all students 10th and 11th period. We ask all PRISM students to be supportive and make a difference. Thank you and we hope to see all PRISM students and interested students there!
We are bring POWER PUFF back! So get ready to play! We are looking for boys and girls (boys to cheer, girls to play), who are fun, looking to have a good time and exemplify good sportsmanship. Please pick up the permission slips in Mr. Woody’s office and the AP suite at the North Campus. Teams will be picked on a first come, first service basis, so make sure to get the permission slips back as soon as possible. There will be 60 girl and 20 boys between both campuses. Make sure YOU are one of them. Slips need to be returned back no later than April 1st. You must also get the approval of your grade administrator. The game is Tuesday, May 12th at 6:00 P.M. Attention Students: Marlboro Central School District is offering the NYS Department of Mother Vehicles 5-hour pre-licensing course, Thursday, April 9th, 4:00 P.M. - 9:30 P.M. in room 10 at the High School. The course fee is $45.00. You must have and bring your permit to the class. Please bring a snack and/or lunch. For info and registration contact Ms. Cindy Storno, 845-236-8000, ext. 1808.
Attention all girls interested in playing Tennis next Fall: We will be meeting for optional hitting/practice starting after Spring break. The plan is Thursdays 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Cronomer Tennis Courts starting April 16th. Any girl interested in tennis is welcome. Ladies: There will be a huge dress sale at Mt. St. Mary College this Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. All dresses are $10.00.
Auditions for the Advance Dance Company for the 2015-2016 school year will take place on Wednesday, April 1st from 2:10 P.M.-3:30 P.M. in the dance studio. See Mrs. Clifford in room 110 if you have any questions. Anyone planning to audition should wear proper dance attire. Previous training in jazz and ballet is strongly suggested.
The NFA Talent Show will take place on Friday, April 17th at 7:00 P.M. If you would like to be in the talent show then you need to come to the audition on Monday, April 13th from 2:10 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. in the auditorium. Please have your entire act ready to perform at the auditions. See Mrs. Clifford in the dance studio if you would like to audition.
If you are a poet and would like to perform your original work in an intimate coffeehouse setting, there will be a Poetry Coffeehouse in the Blackbox the evening of April 16th for performers as well as listeners. Interested poets should be prepared to recite your poems on Tuesday, March 31st, 9th and 10th periods in room 143. For more information, see Mrs. McCurdy.
Attention students: Mount Saint Mary College’s HEOP department will be coming to NFA Main on Wednesday, April 1st to talk to juniors and seniors about their program. There will be a panel of college students and HEOP advisors discussing the college admissions process, understanding your college options and opportunity programs in New York. Please join us in the Lecture Room during period 7 on April 1st. For more information please see Mrs. Hurtado-Kuhn in the Humanities Guidance Office.
Students interested in competing in a Super Smash Brothers gaming event are invited to an informational meeting on Friday, March 27th after school in the Main Campus Library.
Attention seniors: There are new local scholarships being added daily. These local scholarships are open to NFA students only. The scholarships available and applications necessary are posted in each Guidance Office at the Newburgh Free Academy Main and North Campuses and also available on the district web page.
Attention summer job seekers! Summer Youth Employment Program applications are available in each Guidance office. Please pick up the application on a free period, complete it and MAIL IT to the address listed. The last day to mail the application is April 15th.
