You can register below for the Parent/Student Workshops. No registration is required if you are only attending the Keynote Address. Doors open at 9:30AM for the Workshops. Doors open at 12:30PM for the Keynote Address. For a description of the different parent/student workshops download the brochure above, or scroll down past the registration form for a listing of workshop descriptions.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR MORNING WORKSHOPS. WORKSHOP WALK-INS ARE WELCOME BUT WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE SEATING. NO REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THE KEYNOTE AND THERE SHOULD BE AMPLE SEATING DOORS OPEN AT 12:30 FOR THE KEYNOTE.

Student Activities



Applying Your Passion (7th – 12th Grade)
Learn how to market your skills in sports, interests and hobbies to help you in employment, college, and other areas of your life. (English)

Get Ready, Get Set! (7th – 12th Grade)
Going to college is a big event. In this workshop you will receive an overview of the college selection and application process, financial aid and alternative funding sources for college. (English)

Mad Science (3rd – 6th Grade)
An engaging interactive workshop for students focusing on the science of the human body, particularly the circulatory system. How cells are created, what is a blood type and do you know your blood type? The answer to these questions and more will be explored during this fun and exciting workshop on how the body works. (English and Spanish)

Soccer Clinic (1st – 2nd Grade)
Students will learn the basic rules of soccer and have fun during this interactive workshop. Come prepared to play. (English & Spanish)

Together We Can Art Project
At the end of these workshops, student will create a mural to commemorate the event and visually capture the theme for the day: “Together We Can” under the guidance of an arts in education consultant, Jennifer Ifil-Ryan, former Director of the Newburgh Performing Arts Program 21st Century Program at Temple Hill Academy. The mural will be on display for visitors throughout the community who visit the NECSD Welcome Center, 191 Washington Street, Newburgh, NY. (English & Spanish)

Parent Activities



Don’t Stress the ELA Test
Students are required to take New York State tests in Math and English Language Arts each year. Learn how you as a parent can prepare them for success on these tests by learning test-taking strategies and at-home preparation exercises. You will also learn when the test take place, how the results are used from the test, and what changes have been made to the test. (English)

Financial Literacy
A dollar does not go too far these days. Come and learn how to stretch every dollar, create easy to follow budgets, investment strategies, and how to save money as you spend. (English)

Our House
Families are so busy nowadays: work, school, after-school, daily routine activities, all of which makes it hard to communicate, reflect and share quality time. This workshop will provide insight into how to make every moment together matter and help strengthen family communication. (English)

Transition Services
This workshop is for parents and students in grades 9 and up who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan. In this workshop, you will be provided with information about resources and services in our community that may be available to you or your child after graduation. (English and Spanish)
