NECSD Students Discover Alternative Energy, Forensics and Medical Science During Summer Science Camp

     Recently, students from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District were given the opportunity to spend their summer participating in an educational science camp offered as part of a collaborative effort between the SUNY Orange Center for Youth Development and the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. The program provided opportunities for students to discover their interests and talents in the various fields of science.

     The program offered two sessions which last for two weeks each. During the two week program, students were guided by certified teachers and experts in the fields of alternative energy sources, forensic science, and medical science. Following the two week program, students participated in an Energy Expo where they showcased their work and projects from the past two weeks. Students participated in a mock crime scene and worked together using the skills learned in the program to solve the crime. In addition, a friendly-debate allowed students to discuss which renewable energy should obtain funding as part of a mock-business presentation.
