Temple Hill Academy Celebrates Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart
Newburgh Enlarged City School Districtís Temple Hill Academy recently completed the American Heart Associationís Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart as part of the schoolís healthy body and healthy mind initiative.
Students from kindergarten to eighth grade participated in numerous jump rope and basketball activities during their physical education classes. The students also received lessons from the physical education staff, Jane Scott, Chris Leggett, Jim Horton and Carmen Calderon-Peter, regarding the importance of a healthy heart. The lessons focused on the anatomy of the heart, the importance of exercise, proper nutrition and the damaging effects of tobacco. The program was coordinated by Temple Hill Academyís school nurses Judy LeRoy and Maura Koennecke.
