Newburgh Free Academy Nurse Aide Training Program Students Earn Pins Following Internship at Elant in Fishkill
On Thursday, May 17, 2012, Newburgh Free Academy seniors received pins following their completion of an 108 hour internship held at Elant in Fishkill as part of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District's Nurse Aide Training Program.
According to Newburgh Enlarged City School District's Director of Career and Technical Education John Etri, the program, a facet of the Health and Human Services Academy, is open to seniors and prepares students for employment in long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and hospitals where basic bedside care is needed. Curriculum is mandated by the New York State Department of Health and includes the required 108 clinical hours in a nursing facility.
The mission of the Health and Human Services Academy is to provide programs that prepare students to enter the work force and/or post secondary education as they explore human service careers.
