The Three Doctors Inspire Newburgh’s Youth



     On Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus Auditorium, students, parents, and local community groups from the Newburgh community and surrounding area, gathered for a special keynote address, Together We Can, by The Three Doctors.

     With the success of their book, The Pact, a New York Times and Essence #1 Bestseller, The Three Doctors, Sampson Davis, MD, Rameck Hunt, MD, and George Jenkins, DMD, have blazed new trails in delivering powerful messages of hope and inspiration to communities across the country.

     As three boys growing up on the streets of Newark, New Jersey, they formed a pact and promised to help one another make it through the obstacles and struggles of life. Now years later, the three men talked about overcoming the odds that were stacked against them and achieving their dreams by working together.

     Newburgh Enlarged City School District Superintendent of Schools Ralph A. Pizzo explained what the day meant for the Newburgh community. “How many of you came here today with friends or family members? I want you to look to your left and to your right- this room is filled with people that care about you. When we all come together and work together we can be unstoppable. You can work together in your own home with your family members, in your schools with your classmates and teachers, and in your community with your friends and neighbors. Together, we can achieve great things,” explained Pizzo.

     In addition to the keynote address, educational workshops and activities in English and Spanish were held throughout the day.

     Funding for the event was made possible by the New York State Extended Day/School Violence Prevention Grant and local contributions. Community partners for the event included: the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy, Glenn Hines Boys and Girls Club, City of Newburgh Youth Bureau, SUNY Orange Center for Youth Development and Delta Sigma Theta- Mid Hudson Valley Alumnae Chapter.
