Fostertown ETC Magnet School Holds Fuel Up to Play 60 Food Tasting
Recently, Fostertown ETC Magnet School students and staff kicked off the start of the school’s Healthy Snacking program, as well as the continuation of the Walk Across America Challenge. The program is part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 school health initiative.
During the tastings, students tried an assortment of fruits and vegetables along with low-fat ranch dip, baked chips and salsa, whole grain crackers and wheat pretzels. In addition, student-leaders completed research on an assigned food and presented the nutritional information to the visiting classes in grades 3 through 5.
According to Fostertown ETC Magnet School Fuel Up To Play 60 Coordinator Danielle Nelson, “The whole school is bringing in healthy snacks in grades K through 5 and the classes with the healthiest snacks wins a healthy treats party.” Nelson also expressed gratitude to the school’s cafeteria staff for their assistance with the ordering and preparation of the food.
