“Much More Than the ABCs”

Pre-K Literacy Night at Gardnertown Fundamental Magnet School

Pre-K Literacy Night was held at Gardnertown Fundamental Magnet School on Tuesday, February 28th organized by Pamela Peterson, UPK Coordinator and Debra Mahusky, Pre-K Teacher. The parents and Pre-K students enjoyed an evening learning much more than the alphabet and having fun. The parents viewed a powerpoint presentation that showed the Pre-K school day and all the literacy learning that occurs. Then the children enjoyed hearing the story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. They colored, cut, and glued their own construction booklet about the story and each child received a hardcover book of their own. The evening ended with a fun alphabet song “Marching Around the Alphabet”.
