NECSD Board of Education President Honored by Mid-Hudson School Study Council & SUNY New Paltz
On Weds., October 12, 2011, Newburgh Enlarged City School District Board of Education President Dawn Fucheck was honored with the 2011 Dean’s Award for Excellence in School Board Service by the Mid-Hudson School Study Council and the State University of New York at New Paltz, during a dinner for the region’s honorees at Anthony’s Pier 9.
Fucheck began her first term as a Member of the Board on July 1, 2005, and was reelected earlier this year for her third term. Over the course of the last several years, she has served as a Member of the Board, Vice President, and President.
During her tenure, Fucheck has attended numerous conferences to increase her knowledge of education issues and to improve leadership skills as a school board member. In addition, she serves on multiple district committees and currently represents the NECSD as a member of the New York State Small Cities School District Association, Orange County School Boards Association and New York State School Boards Association.
Most recently, Fucheck was recognized by the New York State School Boards Association in 2009 – receiving the Master of Boardsmanship Award – the highest honor bestowed by NYSSBA’s Leadership Development Recognition Program and the Leadership in Governance Award.
