School Superintendents Angry About Lack of State Aid Info
Posted February 23,2015
New York's public school students have become the collateral damage as Gov. Andrew Cuomo continues to battle lawmakers in Albany over education reforms, said a group of Orange County superintendents on Thursday. In an effort to head off what they see as a "crisis of his own making," the superintendents are calling for an opportunity to meet face-to-face with Cuomo. They want to help. I'm hearing reports that we need to make up $7 million dollars this year? Is this true? I thought we didn't have numbers from Albany yet? - 2/15/2015
This is just a preliminary calculation based on the aid we received last year. Once the actual number comes down from Albany we will have a better idea of exactly where we stand. We needed to start planning and could not wait on the numbers from Albany any longer so the best plan of action was just to base our calculations on the same aid that was received last year.
