Fall Sports Start Dates
Varsity and Junior Varsity: Monday, August 18, 2014
Modified (7th and 8th Grade): Wednesday, September 3, 2014
A physical examination is valid for one year. It remains valid until the last day of the month of expiration.
For Junior Varsity and Varsity sports, current year physical examinations are valid for fall sports from August, 2013 through August, 2014.
For modified sports, the current year physical examination is valid from September, 2013 through September, 2014.
Physical exams completed by a private physician must include blood pressure, pulse, vision, hearing, urine dip results, and BMI. This information must be submitted on the NECSD Health Appraisal form. The form and the Pre-participation Health History form can be found on the NECSD Athletics page at: http://www.newburghschools.org/athletics.php
After these forms are obtained and completed, the potential student-athlete needs to obtain a Yellow Clearance Slip from the NFA Main Campus Health Office. Please call the Health Office (563-5471) after July 1, 2014 to ensure that your health record will be on site.
You must also drop off or fax (563-5468 or 563-5545) the NECSD Health Appraisal form and the Pre-participation Health History to the NFA Main Campus Health Office. If you drop off the form, you will be given the date to pick up your clearance form. If the form is faxed, you must call for your pick up date.

Important Concussion Management Information
On July 1, 2012 in New York State, the Youth Concussion Law went into effect. This law requires any charter or public school student suspected of suffering a concussion to be immediately removed from play.
Once suspected of a concussion, a student cannot return to their sport until they are cleared by a physician, successfully complete the NECSD "Return To Play" Protocol (a minimum seven day process), and then are ultimately cleared by the NECSD Chief Medical Officeror their designee.
To assist our school medical staff in the event of a potential concussion, our student-athletes have begun computerized neurocognitive assessment using ImPACT, a concussion management service that the NECSD has subscribed to.
